Leading British Virgin Islands law firm Harneys is pleased to announce the appointments of newly qualified lawyers Kimberly Crabbe and Colleen Farrington as 2009 entrants to the firm’s prestigious Professional Development Programme.
Kimberly and Colleen will spend the next two years working in each of the firm’s major departments where they will gain exposure to the full breadth of BVI and international legal practice and develop their own areas of specialization. The Professional Development Programme also involves regular in-house training workshops and mentoring by partners and senior associates within the firm.
Managing Partner Richard A Peters said he is extremely happy that Harneys was able to recruit two such promising young BVIslander lawyers. “Our professional development programme was established on the belief that continued growth and success depend on recruiting the brightest and best young legal talent available and in this case I am very proud to say that we have done just that.”
He continued: “Kimberly and Colleen are not strangers to Harneys and having observed their academic progress over the past few years it is extremely gratifying that they have both chosen to begin their legal careers at Harneys.”
Colleen joins Harneys after completing her legal education at the Bristol Institute of Legal Practice at the University of the West of England. She began her legal studies at H. Lavity Stoutt Community College where she earned an associate’s degree in legal studies. Colleen is a 2001 graduate of the Bregado Flax Educational Centre on Virgin Gorda.

Kimberly is a 1999 graduate of the BVI High School.
Both appointees have previous experience at Harneys. Colleen worked as a company secretary at Harneys Services for one year before beginning her course of study in the United Kingdom. During university, she spent summer vacations in 2006 and 2007 as an intern at the law firm where she gained experience in the Corporate & Commercial and Banking & Finance departments. Kimberly spent her summer vacations in 2007 and 2008 as an intern in the firm’s private client department. She also worked as a company secretary at Harneys Services for four successive summer holidays while she pursued her early tertiary education.
