Ogier BVI has had a very busy year. 2009 brought a number key lateral hires to the firm, including Ray Wearmouth, who joined from Harney Westwood & Riegels and Gareth Thomas from Conyers and Codan Trust; the firm won numerous prestigious awards, including “Offshore Law Firm of the Year” at the British Legal Awards and Michael Fay was announced as the BVI's managing partner.
2010 sees the firm continuing to grow, with further key hires confirmed, including a senior litigation lawyer and a leading private client and trusts partner, securing the firm's position as the second largest law firm in the BVI.
Managing Partner, Michael Fay, said “Our client-focused strategy demands that Ogier's service offering has substantial strength and depth across all of the key practice areas. We now have over 50 in the BVI and our recent growth means that all of Ogier's practice areas are lead by recognised, BVI leading practitioners for Corporate, Finance, Funds, Litigation and Private Client & Trusts."
On the transactional front the office is busy. "In the last quarter we have advised on three stock exchange takeovers and numerous financings, including a high profile, global debt restructuring of over US$15 billion," said partner Ray Wearmouth.
Ogier’s global reach extends to nine offices that cover all time zones and key financial markets. Ogier is also the only offshore law firm with an established and significant presence in the key offshore jurisdictions of BVI, Cayman, Guernsey and Jersey.
