As a continuation of the tradition of excellence the 2nd Annual International Food Festival and Grand Raffle will be held on Saturday the 7th of June 2008 at the HLSCC, in order to raise funds for two schools namely Cedar International School and First Impressions Primary School. The festival will include food from all around the world, carnival games, bouncing castles, clowns, Moko jumbies, an interactive theatre performance, balloons, steel pan music, calypso, fungi, & soca music as well as music from one of the best DJ’s in the BVI.
The First Annual International Food Festival and Grand Raffle which took place in June of 2007 was a resounding success. Ocean Conversion (BVI) Ltd. had initiated the fund raising drive for St. George’s Primary School by pledging $12,500 and encouraging corporate funding for this event resulting in just under $40,000 being raised. The fun filled family event enabled both young and old to explore and experience the diversity of cultures represented in the BVI.
This year the organisers are taking the event to the next level. Portia Harrigan, Managing Director of Oyster Global Marketing Group explained” We have decided to go for the whole hog. We are going to be moving the venue to the HLSCC as this area is larger and can better accommodate our needs. We will have huge inflatable bouncing castles, a large number of carnival games, a spacious food hall and a stage that will showcase diverse musical performances ranging from the high school steel band to individuals performing their national song and dance.” she continued “The prizes for the Grand Raffle are amazing, the main prize is a Landrover Discovery co-sponsored by Burke’s Garage and in addition to this we have a number of other prizes including a digital camera, a laptop computer, a Blackberry and many more such items. The tickets are priced at $10.00 each and can be purchased at the schools, from the parents and teachers as well as at Burke's Garage.”
